Out & Aboot
I am calling this “Out & Aboot,” in honor of the Canadians I have met in my life. No special reason…I just like saying “Aboot”…

2014 Saw the A's play the Seattle Mariners on Sunday. It was a beautiful day. I watched the game with one eye, and did the ink drawing during the last three innings. I took a phone photo so I could do the color at home. Can you tell it's one of my drawings with all the bright colors?! I am trying out different kinds of paper and this is Strathmore Mixed Media - it can take ink, watercolor and marker with ease.

2014 I got to spend the afternoon wandering around SF Japantown - one of my favorite things to do alone. I bought some cool new pens (!) and then I sat down and had a delicious snack at May's Coffee Shop. They make these cute little fish-shaped waffles filled with chocolate. I sat and drew this with one of my new pens and colored it in with some Koi portable watercolors. Can I tell you how wonderful it feels to spend an afternoon by yourself doing what you love?

2014 I drew this because it seemed like a little history lesson. The signage frames a building site and the buildings in the background were once in this pre-building stage. Soon, there will be another big building in place of this fenced off area, and people will forget what was once there, or even that it was a vast stretch of dirt…for a while.
